Affluent 50 to 60-Something Men Still Choose Beauty First

Fabulous-Old-Man-Fashion-Looks-71

“…all older women hear (and thus believe) that older men are only looking for much younger women. OK, many of them are. But are they getting them? Not really, unless they’re wealthy and powerful. (And I have always believed that it’s good to identify those men and remove them from the 50-something dating pool ASAP; I’m not interested in men like that so move along, men, and good luck!”). Vicki Larson, journalist

I hate to tell you people this, but a simple fact can save you a lot of heartache:

Reasonably attractive, healthy and successful older men have lots of choices when it comes to choosing partners.

Too many, in most cases, which is why so many of them are single or serial monogamists, the emphasis on serial.

~~~
When it gets down to it, money and power are the great equalizers.
Conversely, youth and beauty are also commodities openly traded on the human stock exchange.
Whether you’re young or old, you have different assets to barter, but something is always for sale.
Most of the older successful guys I know have an exacting set of standards they apply to the acquired women in their lives.
These are the very same standards, by the way, they applied to their ex-wives before they divorced them 20 years later.
The fact is successful men prefer to date younger women is because THEY CAN.
Generally speaking, women over the age of 17 are not attracted to youth.
They’re attracted to confidence and power.
Therefore when a beautiful woman in her 20s or 30s meets a man who is in his 50s, with the world in the palm of his hands, it’s sexy and alluring to her.
His age becomes irrelevant.
Walk into any upscale restaurant or bar and what you will see are drop-dead gorgeous women accompanying successful older men.
These women were not forced at gunpoint, believe me.
To many men I know, it’s almost irrelevant whether these women are truly in love with them or merely out to make better lives for themselves.
It matters that they are in the company of a beautiful, intelligent and uncomplicated young woman.
The rest they leave to a suspension of disbelief.
She is everything their wives once were before time took its pound of flesh and soul.
No wonder so many middle aged women without much to leverage scream and yell about all of this.
But put them in the position to do what these young women are doing and you wouldn’t hear a peep.
The fact is average men and women receive average returns, and exceptional beauty and youth will always win out where successful older men are concerned.
Is it fair?
No.
But pretending that “real men” don’t want younger women is delusion. That they want an equal is naive at best, disastrous at worst.
According to one NYC matchmaker, this is the normal course of things:
“I recently had a 78-year-old client who wouldn’t even consider a woman older than 50. If you are 25 years old as you are reading this, let me put this in perspective: That would be like dating a 55-year-old.
That brings me to why I can’t take on women as clients; and no, misogyny has nothing to do with it. In this tough singles market, if a man pays top dollar for a matchmaker, he expects nothing less than a 29-year-old model.  As a result, I cannot find a husband for a 47-year-old schoolteacher with two kids and three mortgages.”
So where do relatively pretty, average 40-plus women find men of means?
They don’t.
What they can and do find are men of equal value, which is not a particularly palatable prospect for most.
My recommendation to such women:
1] Join a book club.
2] Enroll in a continuing education class at a local college.
3] Attend art openings.
4] Get out of the house – maximize exposure.
5] Go back to therapy.
Nature is neither kind nor compassionate, but the good news is that there are exceptions to every rule.
Just not very many.
So, You Want a Daddy?
perfect-woman-clockwI’m cracking myself up this morning.
No seriously.
For all you unemployed millennial’s out there, hope’s on the horizon.
You don’t have to earn a PhD. – or even a GED.
But you will need other assets worth bartering.
I should be charging a consultation fee for this, but you caught me on a good day.
The Most Common Gold-Digger Backstory
Teenage daughter works as a part-time waitress. She lives in a trailer with her biological mother and unemployed stepfather, whose on disability over an alleged lumberyard mishap.
In the mother’s mind…
“The disability payments ain’t worth shit money-wise, but that daughter of mine has an ass…if she only knew how to use it right. I ain’t talkin’ flat-out hookin,’ but maybe goin’ in to the big city and learnin’ how to talk right for god’s sake. Get rid of that gum chewin,’ act like she belongs, ya know…find out where the money’s at…”
This is the template from which most gold-diggers are hatched and bred. It’s as old as the hills, the situation I mean…and how to get out of it.
But there’s a lot more to it than what you read, so I’ll help fill in the blanks.
While finding a “daddy” sounds like a cakewalk to many of you who think that youth and beauty are enough to seal the deal, think again. Cultural evolution is no different than biological evolution, except that it’s a thousand times faster. So while the gold-digger of old was easy to pull from a police line-up, today’s incarnation is virtually unrecognizable even under polygraph analysis and near lethal doses of sodium pentothal.
With this as a backdrop, here are 25 clues from my own personal experience tells me you’re someone I don’t want to know.
1] Gum chewing.
 2] Ending sentences with prepositions. While sometimes it’s okay to end sentences with prepositions, you best know when it’s okay. Otherwise, stick to the rules.
Incorrect usage: Where is he at?
Correct usage: Where is he?
.3] Improperly conjugating verbs
Incorrect usage: “She run off.”
Correct usage: “She ran off.”
4] Mispronouncing words that reasonably educated women learn by the time they’re 6.
Example #1: Never say expresso. The correct word is Espresso.
Example#2: It’s also not Excetera. It’s et cetera.
5] Me vs I
Incorrect usage: Jim and me are going to the beach.
Correct usage: Jim and I are going to the beach.
6] Gone vs Went
Incorrect usage: I should’ve went somewhere!
Correct usage: I went to the store. I should have gone to the open market instead.
7] Could of vs Could have
Incorrect usage: I wonder if I could of majored in English.
Correct usage: I wonder if I could have majored in English.
8] Cheap handbag. Only acceptable if you just picked up something interesting at a vintage shop.
9] Don’t overuse foundation. It makes you look like you’re hiding something. Ask any stripper.
10] Know the difference between sexy and sleazy. It’s part self-confidence, part self-actualization, and part breeding.
11] Bad posture is a clear and present sign of a mother who doesn’t know better.
12] If you’ve never heard of Shakespeare, you’re toast…even if your target is an engineer who only reads blueprints.
13] Money is not the determinant of class. Class is the determinant of class. Then money is the determinant of class.
14] If you can’t walk in heels, learn at home.
15] If you’ve never attended college and you’re not a famous entertainer or entrepreneur, lie.
16] Never trip out at the sight of an expensive home or car. It’s just a home and a car.
17] Never ask a man you don’t know for money or he will have sex with you without paying for it.
18] Hit on anyone other than your date and it will be your last.
19] One online profile is enough. More than one with entirely different information is identity theft.
20] Have interests outside of going out. Some people enjoy reading books, for example.
21] Using country vernacular is fine as long as people know you know the difference between ignorance and the Queen’s English.
22] Never name-drop unless your own name is worth dropping.
23] Your cell phone is simply a cellphone, not a codependent relationship.
24] Repeat after me: “I have a good relationship with my father.”
25] When referring to family members, never say “grampah and grammah.” Instead, say “grandfather and grandmother.” This also applies to mother and father, whom can be also be referred to as simply “mom and dad.”
Baby Boomer Suicide Rate Rising [as funds for concubines dries up]
ymi_two_girls_one_security_guard
http://www.healthline.com/health-news/baby-boomer-suicide-rate-rising-031515
The recent Great Recession was hard on almost everyone, but especially baby boomers [generation born between 1946-1964] who had decades of savings to invest.
Side note: Money is supposed to fill in all the existential angst after life exacts its pound of flesh and leaves us with less physical relevance.
Thus, it’s no surprise that a rising number of middle-aged people of that generation resorted to suicide as the weight of economic problems overwhelmed them.
Since that time baby boomers have had the highest rate of suicide of any age group in the United States, which is interesting given the fact that people between the ages of 40 and 64 have historically had one of the lowest rates.
Add to this conundrum the fact that baby boomers are now sliding head long into the over-65 demographic, which is ground zero for historically high suicide rates.
Put another way, if you don’t have money at this writing, you’re pretty much screwed.
According to the article, since the beginning of the Great Recession, 8.8 million jobs were lost, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Middle-aged people were disproportionately affected in terms of lost property value, household finances, and lost retirement savings.
Twenty-seven percent of those aged 50 to 64 experienced reduction in salaries, higher than any other age group.
On a related note, of those baby boomers who committed suicide from 2005 to 2010, 81 percent had prior mental health or substance abuse problems.
Although suicides for baby boomers could level out as the economy improves, experts say the fact this generation is entering older age is worrisome.
So now even if you have money, you’re too old to really enjoy it.
The key is not to let things get to a point of escalation. When people are suicidal, they’re rigid and not thinking clearly.
Dr. Jill Harkavy-Friedman, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention says, “The key is not to let things get to a point of escalation. When people are suicidal, they’re rigid and not thinking clearly.”
But she is wrong. They are thinking very clearly, which is the problem.
How do you talk an 80-year-old man without money out of hanging himself?
It doesn’t make sense. The man is thinking quite rationally, in my view. What’s the point of going on if you’re broke, and, for all intents and purposes, broken physically?
Is there any hope?
Not really.
From personal experience, I can give you 10 things older men [those over 65] can do to dramatically improve their mental health –– but we’re talking about older men who don’t have to worry about their next meal.
For such men, hope is everywhere because they can afford it.
More specifically, here are 10 ways to insure that it sticks around a long time:
1] Hit the gym on a daily basis, interact with people, and reduce stress. Exercise releases endorphins, which create feelings of happiness and euphoria without heroin. It also boosts self-esteem by providing a sense of physical relevance and self-possession that other older men lose along the way.
2] Check your testosterone levels. At this stage of the game “normal” levels probably aren’t enough. So boost them. Even if it leads to premature death, what the hell difference does it make is all you’re doing is dying in slow motion?
3] Be sexually active. If you’re bored with your wife, figure out how not to be bored with her. If she’s not interested, hire a surrogate wife. Many women I know provide “girlfriend experiences” with a full rate schedule they keep on Ipads. Many keep them in their gym bags. And for God’s sake, get a scrip for ED medication if you think you need it. Most 25-year-olds are using it, so why not you?
 4] Don’t shy away from cosmetic improvements. If your teeth look like crap, fix them. If your jaws are hanging like liver from the sides of your face…facelift! Then there are fillers, micro-dermabrasion…I could go on. Just do it.
5] If you drive a Buick la Sabre, I can’t help you.
2005-Buick-LeSabre_14745
6] Do something you’ve always wanted to do, but for whatever reason haven’t. Nobody’s going to care if you decide to go back-packing in Yosemite after spending 40 years behind a desk.
 7] When was the last time you went clothes shopping? Seriously. Most older men look old because they dress like people who should already be dead. Thus, I suggest you let your “girlfriend” decide what to buy. Pink pleated pants and golfing shirts are now customary attire for the dead at wakes, fyi.
8] Spend time around younger people whenever possible. It has been demonstrated time and time again that people become conditioned to their surroundings, which should not include graveyards and hospitals.
9] Stop talking about your aches and pains, and for God’s sake avoid the obituaries. Nobody wants to hear about your aging joints because only old people have aching joints no matter how ridiculous this sounds. And talking about the death of anyone but, for example, an otherwise youthful and healthy downhill skier is a buzzkill.
10] If you take yourself way too seriously and can’t remember the last time you laughed, you’re like the guy with the Buick.
I’ll give you 10 more in upcoming blogs…
How Gold-Diggers Parse Love
10906284_10101678129372187_5245319915480882154_n11
The following account is real.
I bring this to you not because it news, but because it’s not:
~~~

Man:

Did you ever really love me?

GD:

Honestly, the first year of our relationship I was very much in love with you. We traveled all over the world, stayed in beautiful hotels, dined at great restaurants. It was wonderful. Then your business went downhill and we stopped doing things.

Man:

We stopped traveling but we still did things.

GD:

What things? We mostly stayed at home and watched movies.

Man:

So you were in love with the lifestyle.

GD:

You were the lifestyle.

~~~
Understand that many men are simply incapable of falling in love with any woman who doesn’t satisfy an exacting set of physical standards.
The problem is that gold-diggers have those standards etched into the fabric of their DNA, so they hold all the cards.
And people wonder why so many affluent older men become trapped in vicious cycles of defeated expectations, as they try to get “perfect” women to love them for who they are.
In my world, fortunes come and go every day, mostly under these circumstances.
Aging is a weird thing. We learn more about a lot of things, but the basics never change: love, lust, money, but in the reverse order.
Jerry Hall, 59 Engaged to Rupert Murdock, 84
3001949D00000578-0-image-m-4_1452476016306
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3394897/Jerry-Hall-59-announces-engagement-84-year-old-Rupert-Murdoch.html
Needless to say, this story is not really about Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdock.
It’s about age differences, and how money and power are balanced against relative youth and relative beauty on a very public stage.
What’s obvious is that Hall stands to inherit a massive sum when he dies, which, from an actuarial perspective, is just around the corner.
So she gives up a few years of her life in exchange for vast riches, while he gets to sleep with a younger woman with whom he shares common interests and lifestyles.
In this sense they both win.
But is this it?
Is it just a business decision?
Does Murdock think he’s being used? Probably not.
Does she love him in the way most people think of love?
I don’t know and neither does anyone else.
What I have found through personal experience that most older women – of which Hall is certainly a member – are far less interested in sex and romance than they are companionship.
There are exceptions, but not many.
Gold-digging [aka prostitution] has been around for the entire length and breath of human history.
The problem today, however, is that motive is no longer obvious. In fact, it’s evolved in stealth to what many consider an art form…where PhD level courses will soon be necessary to decode the tell-tale subtleties and innuendo.
~~~

POINTS OF INTEREST on GOLD-DIGGING [in general]

1] Gold diggers are such a problem in NYC, one woman has set up an agency that proclaims it will weed them out.

2] Cautious men need to know that women they’re interested in have jobs with sizable incomes [six figures is expected], be independent and live alone.

3] Successful women seek out equally successful men because, like men, they expect a “perfect 10” for their efforts.

4] “Millennial males are less likely than males of the Gen X and Boomer generations to equate romance with happiness,” says Denise Delahorne, SVP Group Strategy Director, DDB US.

5] “Overall, they [Millennial males] are a group of people who believe they are better than other people, and their own happiness and well being takes precedence over the needs of others.”

6] “Millennials overall, and Millennial men in particular, are more likely to think their own happiness is more important than the happiness of others Millennials overall, and Millennial men in particular, are also more likely to think that they deserve to be famous and hope to be famous one day.”

7] “I think we can’t lose sight of the fact that this is a generation that grew up at a time when attitudes about marriage and divorce really changed.”

8] “...we certainly can’t ignore the fact that they [Millennial men] feel that they can always get out of the marriage if they want to — and this is certainly something that we see frequently in popular culture.”

9] Millennial men are also more likely to want to have a prenuptial agreement than males of other generations (32% vs. 25% of Gen X males and 17% of Boomer males) perhaps because they are more likely to be viewing marriage as a financial/contractual arrangement as much as a romantic partnership.

10] There are five million members on SeekingArrangement. Overall, the site has 3.8 million Sugar Babies, and 12% are male: 460,000. Moreover, this is an 84% jump in male Sugar Baby membership from the start of 2014.

ACCORDING TO THE POST ARTICLE, HERE ARE 5 WAYS TO SPOT A GOLD-DIGGER

Matchmaker Janis Spindel asks ladies looking to date her high-end male clients to pen a 2,500-word bio and fill out an extensive questionnaire. Here are her five rules for spotting a gold digger:

1. A woman who is obsessed with dating a successful man — and knowing what his salary is.

2. A lack of a job is a telltale sign a woman is looking for someone to support her. “Women must have [jobs],” says Spindel. “It gives them a sense of confidence, allows them to support themselves and keeps them busy during the day.”

3. She complains about Spindel’s fee of $1,000 for a one-on-one meeting.

4. A woman who makes unreasonable demands: “If they tell me they must date a man with a plane, I say ‘Sayonara.’”

5. A lady who asks the wrong questions: “When they ask me how many homes my client has, they’re inquiring for the wrong reasons.”

COMMENTS

These points are all far too obvious, as most successful gold-diggers could pass a polygraph with flying colors.

FINAL COMMENTS

How did we get here?

Millennials say feminism is the root of the problem.

They tell me…

1] Women are waiting longer before marriage and children…so they’re no settling down.

2] They also have strong career motives, which they also expect of their mates.

3] They feel entitled to the same sexual freedom as men, which yields a new world man with a vagina.

So what’s the incentive for young women to date young men?

Nothing, really.

Unless, of course, it’s just sex, in which case they need an online alias if they want to protect their reputations and high-end jobs from blackmail and other forms of extortion.

~~~
In closing, here are some passages from my new book, Urban Dystrophy, currently selling like hotcakes on Amazon.
A FEW KEY FACTS TO MALE BABY-BOOMERS OF A CERTAIN SOCIOECONOMIC DEMOGRAPHIC
When you’re twenty-five, women who seriously date you do so for your looks, personality, education, and ability to earn (or somehow, inherit).
When you’re fifty, women who resemble the ones you dated at twenty-five (because they are twenty-five) do so for the perceived security you are able to provide them—both financial and emotional—coupled with a predisposition towards generosity.
Gold diggers flourish in big cities where there are few predators and an abundant food source. Please do not confuse the metaphor.
Watch out for three vulnerabilities they look to target—frustration, boredom, and privilege—the same ingredients necessary to transform a corporate executive with a Harvard MBA into a blackmail statistic.
It doesn’t matter how many boards you sit on, how many ex-wives you have, or how much your children love you. When everything falls apart, including your children, gold-diggers only care about your financial condition.
Remember that women interested in the likes of you operate in survival mode. While it has been postulated that some possess feelings that border on empathy—particularly towards their young, and in some instances, their spouses—survival still hinges on instinct.
You may live in a large urban area because you enjoy the culture, shopping experience, and fine dining, but you’re also a line item on someone else’s balance sheet.
Every man like you with a penchant for youth and beauty will inevitably meet a woman anxious to exploit him.
Men never grow up. If they did, gold-diggers would go extinct.
In case you’re wondering, the same rules apply to women when approaching a male member of this group. It’s a gender-neutral career path.
In exchange for a certain lifestyle, gold-diggers are prepared to barter whatever they have in exchange for whatever they don’t. While this may sound cold and calculating in the context of “love,” some of the country’s most celebrated philanthropists were once strippers, showgirls, and Pilates instructors. (No offense to Pilates instructors.)
Rich Men Prefer Skinny Women: New Research Exposé
street-style-leather-moto-jacket-over-the-shoulders-paris-fashion-week-ray-ban-wayfarer-sunglasses-layered-necklaces-simple-white-dress-peek-a-boo-bra-metallic-waist-thin-belt-small-chaiSs I stated many times before [on this blog], wealthy women prefer to date their financial equals and those withing a few years of their age.
Men? Not so much [on either count].
According to researchers at Chapman University in Orange, Calif., a new study to be published in the January 2016 edition of the peer-reviewed academic journal “Personality and Individual Differences,” validates what I have always believed, that men with more education had strong preferences for female partners who were “good looking,” “slender,” and “younger.” Some 95% of men with an advanced degree said it was “essential” that their partner was “good looking” versus 77% of those with a high school education or less, and 84% of those men said it was essential that their partner was slender versus just 12% of those with a high school education or less.
So what does it all mean?
A depressing confirmation of the worst gender stereotypes that suggests the dating game has not progressed much in the last 100 years? And maybe 1000 if you want to get technical about it.
Using an example from the animal kingdom, “Female bower birds select males with the nicest nest, and in many insects, the female selects a male who offers her a nice gift of prey he has captured.”
Translation: Women prefer nice neighborhoods with swimming pools, just like insects.
Furthermore men prefer slender bodies, which are associated with youth.
As the body’s metabolism slows as one grows older and, slender physiques could represent fertility for men.
I might also add that, beyond the specter of fertility, slender women look better in Chanel and are easier to physically dominate, which is a big deal for many.
The study may help people understand why the advertising industry (and society) puts so much emphasis on women being thin. And it may also throw light on why men strive so aggressively for higher income and assertively negotiate for raises.
Their income clearly affects not only their ability to pay for dates but also their likelihood of attracting a beautiful young, slender partner who looks good in Chanel.
As we all know, men are more visual than women and women have a stronger need to be taken care of both emotionally and financially.
So people with desirable traits are in a position to be more selective.
The study found that both genders reported nearly equally that being with someone physically attractive “to them” is important, which is at least hopeful because it allows for physical imperfections — not the unattainable physical flawlessness we’re bombarded with every day in the media.
Nonetheless, I have seen men with more money than God check each and every line item and then choose the more perfect human female the planet has ever witnessed. Of course, what people want and what they actually get are two different things.
If, for example, a man wants a physically flawless woman with a warm heart, he usually gets only one of them. There’s only so much you can expect from a mating dynamic based on a cold-blooded exchange of commodities.
REAL WORLD PREFERENCES OF AFFLUENT OLDER MEN AND THE WOMEN IN THEIR LIVES:
1] Slender women are preferred because they look best in designer apparel.
2] Slender women are preferred because they look better educated, and thus, more sophisticated.
3] Slender women are preferred because they are easy to physically dominate.
4] Slender women are preferred because in more sophisticated circles, image is everything.
5] Slender women are preferred because the chances of them becoming obese down the road are far less probable.
Notice I didn’t mention anything whatsoever about character.
This is because men with money assume that women who crave it will just fall in line.
And while they appear to do just that, their reasons for doing have more to do with attracting even wealthier men who expect the same thing.
The Inter-Generational Dating Equation [and make no mistake…it is an equation of both heart and common sense]
irrational_man2From the movie, “Irrational Man”
I have cited an article from “Mother Jones,” but I did found something worthy of mention in the context of the older man/younger woman meme.
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2008/01/sugardaddycom-old-dogs-new-tricks
What happens when you get older is that people expect more from you in the way of cash. It’s how most guys validate themselves after time has taken it’s pound of flesh and what’s left is an investment portfolio.
With this in mind, younger women who date older men usually do so for the lifestyle.
This is not to say that they don’t appreciate the other qualities [i.e., maturity, experience, appreciation, etc…], but without the security, we’re pretty stuck dating women who look like they walked off the set of an arthritis commercial.
There are exceptions, of course, but not many.
Just run the actuarial numbers and this will start to make sense.
Anyway, I have an acquaintance who dates a much younger woman.
He pays her a set stipend each week in exchange for a girlfriend experience.
But guys who front-load like this are on thin ice.
They guide their decisions by the old bird in the hand mantra as if the bird in question weren’t a Tyrannosaur in drag.
The only way to avoid inevitable catastrophe is to let the relationship evolve over time, to stop pretending that your “girlfriend experience” is just a transaction.
This is because, after a while, it starts to feel real – to you, not her.
That’s the rub.
It’s fine to help someone out after you’ve gotten to know them well and trust their intentions.
But NEVER, EVER use your imagination when dealing with someone of motive.
As for the dollar bills in question, it’s been my experience that such men pay anywhere from $6000-$8000/ month – up to about $300,000/year for services rendered – at which point they usually marry with a golden parachute built into the pre-nup.
Is it prostitution?
Yes, of course it is.
My friends usually pay their women in cash and receive sexual favors in return.
But it’s also what’s referred to as a functional relationship by today’s standards among the older moneyed class.
The abnormal and maladjusted ones fall in love and live happily ever after, but I digress.
